What Sets Us Apart
Children’s Dentistry of Virginia, PC, serving the Midlothian, VA area, provides a welcoming and calm environment. Here, each child is treated with gentle respect, kindness, and patience. We know early experiences can influence a child’s feelings about dental care, lasting well into adulthood. With a safe and supportive space, using a tell-show-do approach with procedures, and offering lots of encouragement, we help children feel at ease in the dental environment. Our doctors and team work hard to gain our young patients’ trust. They work hand-in-hand with parents to set the foundation for a lifetime of oral health and wonderful smiles!
Our Practice
We opened our doors in 2008 to offer a child-friendly and family-oriented office, where we partner with parents and caregivers, and always respect their concerns. We invite parents to stay with their son or daughter during visits: We want families to be engaged and educated advocates for the little ones’ oral health! In the years since we opened, our practice has grown through recommendations from those we serve. Those referrals mean so much to us: we are dedicated to living up to each family’s expectations!
Our Doctors
Our pediatric dentists — Dr. John Flowers, Dr. Jo Cronly, Dr. Ashley Harman, Dr. Kathryn Skarda, Dr. Michael Davis, and Dr. Bryan Hinkle — are highly trained specialists. Their post-dental school residencies ensured a solid understanding of the special oral health concerns of children, along with behavior management, caring for special needs patients and those with complex health issues, growth and development, and sedation. At Children’s Dentistry of Virginia in Midlothian, we treat your children just like they are our own.
Our Team
We are proud of our team members. Whether in the front office or the clinic, they are professional, welcoming, and well-skilled. Like the doctors, our team loves personally getting to know each child and their family and thrives on the real friendships that grow with the wonderful people we serve.
Our Focus
We believe children’s teeth are a reflection of a child’s overall health, so we want all children to have healthy smiles and healthy bodies. We focus on preventive care, establishing healthy behaviors, and reinforcing them with praise and encouragement.
Our Approach
We expect kids to be kids, not little adults, and allow each to become comfortable at their own pace. If that means sitting on the floor and chatting for a while, we’re good with that! No victory is too small, and while we don’t always win over every child at every visit, we eventually get there by maintaining a calm, happy, and supportive environment. Earning a child’s trust and his or her wonderful smile is our greatest reward!
Our Board Certification
The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) was organized by the American Society of Dentistry for Children in 1940. It is the only ADA-recognized certifying board for the specialty of pediatric dentistry.
The vision of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry is to achieve excellence in pediatric dentistry through the certification of all pediatric dentists.
Pediatric dentists that are certified by the ABPD have met the standard of excellence set forth in providing high-quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs. When a pediatric dentist becomes certified, he or she has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills, and experience required to deliver the highest quality of patient care.
Certification also reflects a dentist’s commitment to lifelong learning and continuing education. ABPD-certified dentists have the desire to practice pediatric dentistry at the highest level and are dedicated to constantly reevaluating their practice in light of the most recent scientific evidence.
